ColdQuanta Secures Lease at Oxford Tech Park, In Boost for UK Quantum Computing

ColdQuanta UK Limited, part of global quantum technology company Infleqtion, has secured a lease for space in the Innovation Quarter at Oxford Technology Park to boost UK Quantum Computing. ColdQuanta uses atomic physics to build quantum computers, which could significantly reduce drug development time and costs in the life science industry. The park, acquired by Life Science REIT in May 2022, also houses The Native Antigen Company, Oxford Gene Technology, and Oxford Ionics. Ian Harris, Director of Asset Management at Life Science REIT, highlighted the park’s potential for fostering growth and collaboration among emerging life sciences businesses.

ColdQuanta UK Limited Secures Lease at Oxford Technology Park’s Innovation Quarter

ColdQuanta UK Limited, a subsidiary of the global quantum technology company Infleqtion, has secured a lease for 7,497 square feet of fully fitted space within the Innovation Quarter at Oxford Technology Park (OTP). The lease will be finalized once the laboratory fit-out works are completed.

ColdQuanta specializes in the use of atomic physics to develop quantum computers and integrate them across networks. This creates an ecosystem of devices and platforms that represent the next generation of computing power. This advanced technology has the potential to significantly impact the life science industry, particularly in the area of drug development, where it could potentially reduce both time and costs. This illustrates the increasing interdependence of technology and life sciences.

Innovation Quarter: A Unique Offering at OTP

The Innovation Quarter (IQ) at OTP offers a unique proposition, providing smaller, more flexible spaces for businesses. The IQ, which covers 69,700 square feet, was completed in August of the previous year. It is EPC A rated and is on track to achieve a BREEAM Excellent certification, indicating its commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

Ian Harris, Director of Asset Management at Life Science REIT, expressed optimism about the leasing momentum at the IQ. He highlighted the potential of the IQ to provide emerging life sciences businesses with opportunities for growth and collaboration with other businesses at OTP, as well as with academic institutions in Oxford and the neighboring Begbroke area.

OTP was acquired by Life Science REIT in May 2022. It now comprises six completed buildings, totaling 231,600 square feet, and 266,100 square feet of development space. The park is home to several companies, including The Native Antigen Company, a developer and manufacturer of antigens and antibodies; Oxford Gene Technology, a provider of clinical research and diagnostic solutions; and Oxford Ionics, a quantum computing business.
