China Launches Fourth-Generation Self-Developed Quantum Control System, Origin Tianji 4.0

Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co, based in Hefei, Anhui Province, has launched China’s fourth-generation self-developed quantum control system, Origin Tianji 4.0, supporting over 500 qubits and marking a significant milestone for the country’s quantum technology ambitions. This launch enables scalable production of hundred-qubit quantum computers through replicable engineering capabilities, with improvements in scalability, integration, stability, and automation compared to its predecessor, Tianji 3.0. The system integrates with four core software systems, streamlining tasks previously requiring Phd-level expertise into standardised workflows for regular engineers.

Since its introduction, the third-generation Origin Wukong quantum computer, powered by Tianji 3.0, has completed over 380,000 tasks for millions of users globally, supporting fields like finance and biomedicine. The development underscores China’s progress toward a self-controlled “China solution” in the global quantum technology race.

China Launches Fourth-Generation Quantum Control System

Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co has unveiled the fourth-generation quantum control system, Origin Tianji 4.0, which supports over 500 qubits, marking a significant advancement in China’s quantum technology efforts. This system serves as the neural center of quantum computers, managing precise signals for quantum chips.

Compared to its predecessor, Tianji 3.0, the new system offers enhanced scalability, integration, stability, and automation. These improvements are achieved through self-developed hardware and software architectures, which have significantly advanced efficient control and precise readout of quantum chips.

The integration of Tianji 4.0 with four core software systems has streamlined previously complex tasks, making them accessible to regular engineers. This development underscores the potential for scalable production and mass manufacturing of hundred-qubit quantum computers in China.

Since its launch, Origin Wukong, powered by Tianji 3.0, has completed over 380,000 tasks for millions of users globally since January 2024. This demonstrates the system’s real-world impact across various fields such as finance and biomedicine, highlighting China’s growing influence in quantum computing. This launch not only advances the “China quantum control system” but also positions the country as a key player in the global race for quantum technology leadership.

There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. Adrian is an expert on how technology can be transformative, especially frontier technologies. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that is considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing and Quantum tech space.
