OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Business Access with Codex-Only Option

OpenAI is expanding access to its ChatGPT Business platform with a new Codex-only option, allowing workspaces to utilize the AI model on a usage-based basis alongside standard seat subscriptions. Beginning April 2, 2026, eligible businesses can earn up to 500 in workspace credits by adding and activating new Codex seats; each seat that initiates its first message will receive 100 in credits automatically applied to billing. These promotional credits will expire by April 30th. According to the promotion details, the offer is designed for professional domains and excludes users who have recently held paid seats or workspace owners, with OpenAI reserving the right to revoke credits in cases of misuse.

ChatGPT Business: 500 Credit Offer for New Codex Seats

Beginning April 2, 2026, OpenAI broadened the functionality of its ChatGPT Business platform by introducing Codex-only access alongside standard seat-based options and is incentivizing adoption with a promotional credit program for new users. Eligible workspaces adding these specialized “Codex seats” can earn up to 500 in credits, distributed at a rate of 100 for each new seat that sends its initial message utilizing the Codex functionality; these credits will then automatically cover usage-based billing for the advanced code generation capabilities. This expansion allows businesses to tailor their access to ChatGPT Business, selecting a mix of standard and Codex-only seats to optimize costs and functionality based on specific needs, reflecting the increasing demand for AI-powered coding assistance.

The promotion is structured with specific eligibility requirements designed to target new engagement; workspaces currently undergoing a free trial are excluded, and individuals who have held paid seats in either ChatGPT Business or ChatGPT Enterprise within the preceding 90 days are ineligible for the 100 credit per seat. OpenAI clarifies that “Workspace Owners of the applicable ChatGPT Business workspace” will not receive the promotional grant, and the offer is limited to one grant per person, with provisions for revoking credits in cases of misuse or fraud, as outlined in their Service Credit Terms. OpenAI states that “Eligible new Codex seats must complete one Codex message to receive the credits,” ensuring the incentive directly correlates with platform utilization.

The promotional credits, intended for usage-based Codex billing and not API access, will expire by April 30th, creating a defined timeframe for adoption. Existing ChatGPT Business workspaces are also eligible, but only for newly added Codex seats. OpenAI support resources are available for those seeking further assistance, and the company reserves the right to modify or terminate the promotion as needed, emphasizing that “this promotion is intended only for eligible ChatGPT Business workspaces and eligible users,” and cannot be transferred or sold.

Codex Seat Eligibility & Promotional Credit Restrictions

These credits, intended for usage-based Codex billing, are automatically applied to the workspace’s credit balance, providing a financial incentive for businesses exploring the capabilities of the Codex model. The promotion includes specific eligibility requirements and restrictions, ensuring the offer targets new users and prevents abuse; workspaces must be associated with professional domains and not currently undergoing a ChatGPT Business free trial to qualify. “There is a limit of one promotion grant per person,” further reinforcing the intention to reach a broad base of eligible users while preventing individuals from exploiting the offer through multiple accounts.

Eligible new Codex seats must complete one Codex message to receive the credits.

There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. Adrian is an expert on how technology can be transformative, especially frontier technologies. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that is considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing and Quantum tech space.
