Transcript: Tech expert Ben Buchanan talks with Michael Morell on “Intelligence Matters”The theme, I think, is that too often in international relations scholarship, and also, to some degree, in policy, we look at cyber operations like they’re nuclear operations. So I have students who are, for their day jobs, at CIA, at NSA, and they have, I think, some perspectives from that place. And then 9/11 happened, Bush administration happened, war in Iraq, and I thought, this technology stuff is fun, but it doesn’t really matter. There’s certainly a frustration, I think, with some in the tech companies about activities of the intelligence community, in the past, activities of the military in the past. And the people who can do this, in some sense, are like NFL quarterbacks, there’s just not enough of them, and the demand is really high. A, if you do, and B, what you think of it, is the potential risks of a link between AI and biotechnology? So I suppose, Ben, like all technologies, AI has pluses and minuses from a national security perspective.
